Course Book

The Course was designed by Billy Casper and Greg Nash. There are 178 acres of perennial ryes and bent grasses over the community's 27-hole signature design by Billy Casper. Eleven holes either play through, or along 2,000 plus 150-200 year old heritage oak trees.

Six of the front 9-holes has water that can come into play on the main 18-holes. 142 sand bunkers are also an integral part of the golf course. The Sierra Pines 9 is a stand-alone par 36.

Residents may book tee times eight days in advance, while the public may book tee times seven days in advance. There is a variety of programs for residents: free clinics, lessons, newspaper articles, R.A.M.P, Men's and Ladies Clubs and many other opportunities.

Hole #1

Casper 360 yds. Black tees
Back 334 yds. Blue tees
Middle 318 yds. Gold tees
Forward 277 yds. Red tees
Description: A good, solid shot is needed for this excellent starting hole, but be careful, for the longer your tee shot is, the narrower the fairway becomes. It is important to select the correct club for your second shot, due to the expansive green. There's nothing wrong with a solid par to start your scorecard.
Hole #2_ par 5
Casper 474 yds. Black tees
Back 436 yds. Blue tees
Middle 418 yds. Gold tees
Forward 404 yds. Red tees
Description: Don't be fooled by this relatively short par 5. All but the longest of hitters will have to lay up short of the creek that crosses the fairway. The second shot should favor the left side of the fairway to avoid the bunkers that guard the right side. A large mound runs across the middle of the green, so proper club selection on your approach shot is critical.
Hole #3_ par 4
Casper 372 yds. Black tees
Back 329 yds. Blue tees
Middle 307 yds. Gold tees
Forward 284 yds. Red tees
Description: Although this unassuming par 4 looks easy, the fairway narrows at about the 150-yard marker. Going beyond that and you better be favoring the left side, because there is water lurking guarding the right side. The putting surface gently slopes towards the water. A possible birdie awaits if you play your cards right.
Hole #4_par 3
Casper 155 yds. Black tees
Back 128 yds. Blue tees
Middle 113 yds. Gold tees
Forward 95 yds. Red tees
Description: This hole actually plays a bit uphill, so make sure you take enough club to reach the pin. Bunkers surround this rather large green, which has a small ridge running across the center. The green slopes from back to front. Could it be two birdies in a row?
Hole #5_par 5
Casper 522 yds. Black tees
Back 488 yds. Blue tees
Middle 471 yds. Gold tees
Forward 437 yds. Red tees
Description: An exciting tee shot awaits every player on this challenging par 5. Water creeps into the left side, so favor the right side of the fairway. Big hitters can try and go for the green in two, but be careful…there is a large grass waste area that guards the right side of the green. For most players, this is a 3 shot hole. The green is fairly flat, so you can be aggressive on your birdie attempt.
Hole #6_par 3
Casper 124 yds. Black tees
Back 105 yds. Blue tees
Middle 94 yds. Gold tees
Forward 83 yds. Red tees
Description: Intimidation is the biggest defense that this little par 3 has. Water almost completely surrounds the undulating green. Trust your yardage and select the right club. Par is never a bad score on this hole.
Hole #7_par 4
Casper 466 yds. Black tees
Back 409 yds. Blue tees
Middle 379 yds. Gold tees
Forward 360 yds. Red tees
Description: Get out the big stick and let it rip! The fairway has plenty of room, but watch out for the large waste area running down the right side, it has a way of attracting the wayward shot. Look for the flag placement on this very large green, and club accordingly. Par is an excellent score.
Hole #8_par 4
Casper 385 yds. Black tees
Back 345 yds. Blue tees
Middle 321 yds. Gold tees
Forward 302 yds. Red tees
Description: This slight dogleg right par 4 looks simple from the tee, but be careful! There are several bunkers on the left, and out of bounds on both sides of the fairway. Trouble also awaits upon your approach shot to the narrow green. A large bunker on the left and water on the right get your attention. The green slopes towards the water. A level putt is hard to come by.
Hole #9_par 4
Casper 384 yds. Black tees
Back 358 yds. Blue tees
Middle 316 yds. Gold tees
Forward 286 yds. Red tees
Description: A good, solid tee shot is required on this front nine finishing hole. Out of bounds and water dictate a shot that favors the left side of the fairway. A medium to short iron will be needed to clear the water and bunkers that protect the right side of this huge green. There is a large valley that bisects the middle of the green. Long putts are not uncommon on this back to front sloping green.
Hole #10_par 4
Casper 403 yds. Black tees
Back 384 yds. Blue tees
Middle 364 yds. Gold tees
Forward 328 yds. Red tees
Description: The start of the back nine requires a tee shot that avoids the large, steep faced bunkers located on the left side of the fairway. Out of bounds is very close to the left side. Your approach shot will be dictated by the pin placement, the difference between front and back is almost 3 clubs.
Hole #11_par 4
Casper 429 yds. Black tees
Back 409 yds. Blue tees
Middle 364 yds. Gold tees
Forward 304/328 yds. Red tees
Description: One of the most demanding holes on the course. Your tee shot must be straight and true, avoiding the large oak tree on the right and the bunkers on the left. Out of bounds left and Lateral water hazard on the right narrow the fairway even further. The green has two levels and slopes left to right. Par is a very good score here.
Hole #12_par 5
Casper 478 yds. Black tees
Back 467 yds. Blue tees
Middle 444 yds. Gold tees
Forward 428 yds. Red tees
Description: This hole is probably one of the better chances for birdie on the course. This relatively short par 5 doglegs right slightly, with a lateral water hazard running down the right side of the hole. The big hitters will go for the green in two, but watch out for the bunkers that protect the green. Shots that favor the left side of the hole will set you up for a short approach, get it close enough and a birdie will be waiting.
Hole #13_par 4
Casper 336 yds. Black tees
Back 318 yds. Blue tees
Middle 298 yds. Gold tees
Forward 286 yds. Red tees
Description: This is a great short hole. Due to its narrow fairway, driver isn't the play, but it might be worth the risk. Most players hit a fairway wood or long iron to set themselves up for a short iron approach. The multi-tiered makes choosing the correct level a must. Avoid going long or too far left. A possible birdie opportunity awaits you.
Hole #14_par 3
Casper 181 yds. Black tees
Back 150 yds. Blue tees
Middle 125 yds. Gold tees
Forward 100 yds. Red tees
Description: Depending on the tee box, this solid par 3 can be from anything from a short to long iron. The green has a large ridge that runs through the center of the green. The green also slopes sharply from right to left, with a small bowl located back left. Avoid long and right, a lateral hazard lurks closely to the green. A good shot will be rewarded.
Hole #15_par 4
Casper 379 yds. Black tees
Back 361 yds. Blue tees
Middle 348 yds. Gold tees
Forward 313 yds. Red tees
Description: This hole looks innocent enough, but don't be fooled. Keep your tee shot down the left center to leave you a clear shot to the green. For the big hitter, do you think you can cut the corner? The large oak tree that sits on the right side tends to gobble up golf balls that try. The relatively large, flat green has bunkers that guard the right front. Birdie is a strong possibility if you play your shots correctly.
Hole #16_par 3
Casper 133 yds. Black tees
Back 121 yds. Blue tees
Middle 121 yds. Gold tees
Forward 79/107 yds. Red tees
Description: This par 3 is just slightly uphill, making you yardage selection crucial. A large bunker protects the front of this green, and a series of bunkers guards the right and back of the rather large green. Putts from right to left might catch the slope that runs to the front of the green. A solid par or possible birdie sets you up for a tough finish.
Hole #17_par 4
Casper 413 yds. Black tees
Back 393 yds. Blue tees
Middle 374 yds. Gold tees
Forward 315 yds. Red tees
Description: Be prepared to hit some solid shots on this difficult par 4. Your tee should be down the left side of the fairway, too far right and the large oak trees might block you out. Did we mention the large fairway bunkers down the right side also? A long to mid iron might be used for your second shot to the large, slightly uphill green. Bunkers protect the left side as well as the back of this green. A par will feel like a birdie on this tough hole.
Hole #18_par 5
Casper 516 yds. Black tees
Back 484 yds. Blue tees
Middle 467 yds. Gold tees
Forward 449 yds. Red tees
Description: Our signature hole here at Sun City Roseville. Most players will hit a driver or 3 wood off the tee, but the longer hitter has many options. A wood will bring trouble into play in the form of water on the left and bunkers on the right. Everybody has a choice for the second shot, do you lay up in front of creek, or do you take a crack at the green? Is it worth the risk? The approach to the green gets narrow, with hazard running down the right side all the way up to the green. The green is long, and slopes from back to front.
